Don't forget to document your charitable contributions

We know that the holiday season is a time of giving, and we want to remind you not to forget about documenting your charitable contributions. If you are claiming a deduction for cash gifts, then you must be prepared to verify your claim with documentation such as cancelled checks or credit card statements which show the name of the charity and date on which it was given. Otherwise, without any formal record of these donations, they cannot be deducted from taxes. If you are unsure then make contact with a NGO that deals with donations every tax year.
